What is a deep link? Opening the app or the store
Short answer: A deep link opens a specific screen in an app when tapped. If the app is not installed, a fallback step sends the user to the store.
Types
- Custom scheme: For example
yourapp://product/1. It does nothing if the app is missing. - Universal link or app link: A normal https address that opens the app when it is installed.
In campaigns
In Attrely, a tracking link can carry a deep link and a store address together. Mobile visitors try the app first; if it does not open within 1.5 seconds, they are sent to the store. The campaign identifier is passed to both.
Common mistake
If the app has no screen for a deep link, the user lands on an empty view. Test every deep link on a real device.
